About today

Seeing the wrong day?

If you're expecting to see the pages for today and you aren't, there are three possible causes.

1. The address specifies a date

A Universalis address like this:

http://wap.universalis.com/20090801/readings.htm

specifically asks for the readings for 1 August 2009. If you have a bookmark to this address, it will always display the readings for 1 August 2009 and for no other date.

Cure: Remove the date from the address. If this address came from a bookmark, re-bookmark the page.

2. The address specifies the wrong time zone

A Universalis address like this:

http://wap.universalis.com/0800/readings.htm

tells Universalis that you are visiting it from a place that is 8 hours ahead of GMT (for example, Singapore). If this is not true, and you are in Britain or America instead, then it will quite often happen that the difference in time zone implies a difference in date.

Cure: remove the time zone from the address. If this address came from a bookmark, re-bookmark the page.

3. You have Javascript turned off

If your Universalis address has no numbers in it, the Universalis site delivers a page that uses Javascript to work out what date it is where you are. If you have Javascript turned off, this will not work. The same thing will happen if your browser doesn't use Javascript at all.

Cure: You need to specify a time zone directly as part of the address. Visit the Time Zones page to do this.
