Your Kindle's email address

Every Kindle device has an email address of the form something@kindle.com. If you want our web service to send e-books to your Kindle (or you want to do it yourself) then you need to know that address.

Looking on your Kindle

The Settings page on your Kindle will show you your Kindle's email address. On the original Kindle, the thing to look for is "Device E-mail" on page 2 of the Settings page. It may be in a different place on other Kindle devices. Kindle programs and apps should also show the same information somewhere.

Looking on Amazon's web site

The Manage Your Kindle page on Amazon's web site lets you look up your Kindle's email address (it also lets you change it).

For your convenience, here are a couple of links:

Amazon may redesign their sites at any time, in which case these links won't work and you will have to search the Amazon site yourself.

  1. At the top of your Amazon screen, there should be a menu bar with a number of options. Choose "Manage Your Content and Devices".
  2. The "Manage Your Content and Devices" page is divided into three sections: Your Content, Your Devices, and Settings.
  3. Open "Your Devices", and you will see pictures of all your Kindle devices.
  4. Select the device you want, and make a note of what address is given next to the "E-mail:" heading. It will always end with @kindle.com.

IMPORTANT: Approved Personal Document E-mail List

To avoid spam, Amazon only accept personal documents from email addresses that you specify. You must make sure that your own email address – the one you will send e-books from – is included in this list.

  1. Visit Amazon and open the "Manage Your Content and Devices", as described above.
  2. Open the "Settings" section.
  3. Scroll down to the "Personal Document Settings" heading.
  4. A little way below this, there is a heading saying "Approved Personal Document E-mail List".
  5. Make sure that your own email address is in the list. If it isn't, click on the link saying "Add a new approved e-mail address".
