Kindle (Mac): transfer via USB


Once Universalis has finished creating your Kindle e-book:

Connect the Kindle

Make sure your Kindle is awake.

Using the USB cable that came with your Kindle, plug your Kindle into a USB port on your computer.

After a few seconds, the screen will change to something like this:


Press the button marked "Save to Kindle".

After a second or two, all the e-book windows will disappear and you will be left with the normal Universalis screen. You can then unplug your Kindle.

If Save to Kindle doesn't appear

If the "Save to Kindle" button doesn't light up when you plug in your Kindle, try unplugging it and then plugging it in again. If that still doesn't work, there must be something unusual about the configuration of your Kindle or your Mac, so you will have to transfer the e-book in another way. Either email the e-book to your kindle.com account (instructions are here), or save the e-book file on your desktop and follow Amazon's instructions for dragging the file into the Kindle by hand.
