Technical and financial details

The Universalis web site consists almost entirely of dynamically generated pages.

Content is stored on a Cardbox database, and is then processed into a compact form by a proprietary compiler and uploaded to the web site.

When a request is received for a Universalis page, it is interpreted by a specially written program which identifies any applicable local calendar.  The compact database is accessed, and an appropriate HTML or WML page is generated.

Universalis makes a small amount of money out of commissions on book sales through Amazon.  If you wish to help Universalis in this way, please access Amazon by way of our Books page.

In June 2005 Universalis started to sell a downloadable version of the Liturgy of the Hours. All other services continue to be free.
