Kindle (Windows): transfer via USB

Once Universalis has finished creating your Kindle e-book:

Connect the Kindle

Using the USB cable that came with your Kindle, plug your Kindle into a USB port on your computer.

Save to Kindle

In Universalis, press the button marked "Save to Kindle".

Disconnect the Kindle

Once Universalis tells you that it is safe to do so, unplug your Kindle.

If something goes wrong

If by any chance Universalis can't see that you have plugged the Kindle in, it can't copy the e-book file to it. In that case, you will have to go about it another way. Either email the e-book to your kindle.com account (instructions are here), or save the e-book file on your desktop and drag the file into the Kindle by hand. If you do this, you must make sure that you drag the file not into the Kindle itself but into the "documents" folder within the Kindle. Full instructions are here.
