Sending an e-book to your Kindle's email address puts that e-book on your Kindle.
This could be abused by spammers, so Amazon require you to add the address you will be sending e-books from to an approved list.
The Manage Your Kindle page on Amazon's web site lets you add your email address to the list.

Amazon may redesign their sites at any time, in which case these links won't work and you will have to search the Amazon site yourself.
In the Manage Your Kindle page, look at "Your Kindle Account" in the left-hand column, and choose the "Personal Document Settings" link in that list. Make sure that the email address you will be sending e-books from is included in the "Approved Personal Document E-mail List" in the Personal Document Settings page.
