Universalis e-books

A Universalis e-book contains the Liturgy of the Hours and the readings at Mass for every day in a given period.

You can get Universalis e-books in both ePub and Kindle format. The ePub format is the industry standard; the Kindle format is used only by the Amazon Kindle e-readers and apps.

Why get an e-book?

Should I get an app instead?

Yes, if you can.

Universalis apps and programs exist for:

Android (& Fire) · iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch · Mac · Windows

For e-book readers, such as the Kobo, Nook or Amazon Kindle, you’ll need an e-book because they can’t run apps. For systems such as Windows Phone or Blackberry, a Universalis app doesn’t exist but you can use an e-reader app to read e-books.

How do I get an e-book?

You can make your own e-book or buy a ready-made one. In the long run it is cheaper if you make your own, but ready-made e-books are quicker and simpler to buy.

Ready-made Kindle e-books from Amazon: we sell selected e-books in Kindle format directly through Amazon. They cover a full year of readings at Mass, or half a year of the Liturgy of the Hours. When the time runs out, you need to buy a new e-book. The full catalogue is here. Amazon offer free samples of every e-book they sell.

Kindle, through our web site. You can ask our web site to create a Kindle e-book for you and send it directly through Amazon’s Personal Documents Service to your Kindle. After a free trial period you need a Universalis registration code (see below). The first time, you need to set up a couple of features in your Amazon account; after that, the procedure is simple and very quick.

Kindle, using your own computer. You can use the Universalis program to create an e-book on your own computer, and then transfer it to your Kindle. After a free trial period you need a Universalis registration code (see below). Once you have created the e-book you can plug your Kindle into your computer and copy the e-book onto it, or you can email it to yourself using Amazon’s Personal Documents Service.

ePub, using your own computer. You can use the Universalis program to create an e-book on your own computer. After a free trial period you need a Universalis registration code (see below). Once you have created the e-book you can plug your e-reader into your computer and copy the e-book onto it.

About registration codes

A registration code gives you unlimited access to our Android, iOS, Mac and Windows apps as well as to e-book creation. It costs £19.99 (about $24.50 or €23.00), but you only need to buy it once.

Here is more information about registration codes. Don’t buy one until you have tried creating and reading e-books and are happy with the result. That is what the one-month free trials are for!

Please note that the e-books you create are for your private use only and must not be given or distributed to other people.
