The calendar view shows you an extract from the liturgical calendar:
The page view shows you one particular page for your chosen day:
The button at the top left takes you directly to today's date after you have been viewing dates in the future or in the past.
The left and right buttons move you back and forward by one day. The numbered button in the middle switches you between the calendar view and the page view.
The control at the top right lets you move from one page to another.
The calendar view lets you view and scroll through the liturgical calendar.
To move between dates, use the scroll bar at the right-hand edge of the window. You can also use the Date menu.
To move a long way in the calendar - for instance, to another month or another year - use the Date menu or click on the heading that shows the name of the month.
To view the details for a particular day, click on that day.
To move from one day to another, use the left and right arrows at the top of the window, or use the Date menu.
To go to the calendar view, click on the number between the arrows.
To change which page you are viewing (Mass, Morning Prayer, etc), click on the button at the top right, or use the Hour menu.
To make the print larger or smaller, use the View menu.
To copy the text so that you can paste it into another program, highlight it with the mouse or use Edit > Select All. Then use Edit > Copy to perform the actual copy.
To make your computer speak the text out loud, use Edit > Speech > Start Speaking. If you have highlighted some text then that is what will be spoken; otherwise the whole page will be spoken.
To print the text, copy and paste it into Pages or a suitable word processor.
The command Universalis > Preferences opens the Preferences window. This has two tabs: Calendar and Registration.
You can choose which local calendar you want Universalis to use.
You can also decide whether you want the same Invitatory Psalm every day, or whether you want the psalm to change every day, going through the four permitted options, as the Universalis web site does.
For the Liturgy of the Hours, you can choose whether to use the Grail translation of the psalms or the translation that is used on the Universalis web site. (The scripture readings are always in the Jerusalem Bible version).
For the readings at Mass, you can choose whether to use the Jerusalem Bible and the Grail psalms (which are used in the UK and many other parts of the world) or the New American Bible scripture readings and psalms. The New American Bible option is only available if you select one of the United States liturgical calendars.
For the Gospel reading at Mass, you can choose whether to view the original Greek together with the English translation.
For the Order of Mass, you can choose whether to view it in English or in a parallel English-Latin version.
