Purchasing and licensing: bought from Amazon

You have said that you have bought the Universalis app from the Amazon Appstore.

The app you have bought from the Amazon Apptore will work on any Amazon Fire or Kindle Fire device you possess. This is Amazon’s policy. No payment or code is needed.

Installing on a new device

Just open the Appstore app on your new device and you should find that it offers you the Universalis app free of charge. If it doesn't, don't just pay and hope it will somehow be free, but contact Amazon and ask them what is going on.

Advice about subscriptions

Universalis itself does not need a monthly subscription. There are two cases in which a subscription is necessary:

  1. If (instead of buying the Universalis app) you get the free Catholic Calendar app, you can pay a monthly subscription to make it behave exactly like Universalis. If you later buy the Universalis app, or if you later buy a registration code, you should cancel the subscription.
  2. If you want to listen to spoken audio versions of the Mass readings or the Hours, that requires a monthly subscription. If you later decide you don’t want the spoken versions any more, you should cancel the subscription.

How to cancel a subscription

Amazon won’t let us cancel a subscription for you. It is something you have to do for yourself.

Using the Amazon Appstore app

Open the Appstore app on your device, select "Subscriptions" from the menu at the top left, and look for the subscription you want to cancel: either "Full Universalis content" or one of the spoken audio subscriptions. If it's there, press the "Manage" button next to it. To cancel the subscription, turn off the "Auto-Renew" checkbox and press Save. (Confusingly, the "Cancel" button does nothing).

Using the Amazon web site

Go to the Amazon web site and sign in to your account. In the Your Account menu, select "Your Apps & Devices" (not "Your Content and Devices", which is confusingly similar). From the Your Apps and Devices page, look for a link to Your Subscriptions on the left-hand side of the page, and look for the subscription you want to cancel: either "Full Universalis content" or one of the spoken audio subscriptions. There will be an "Actions" button next to it. To cancel the subscription, click the button and select the option to turn off auto-renewal.
