O God, come to our aid.
O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son

as it was in the beginning,

Beáta nobis gáudia
anni redúxit órbita,
cum Spíritus Paráclitus
effúlsit in discípulos.
Ignis vibránte lúmine
linguæ figúram détulit,
verbis ut essent próflui
et caritáte férvidi.
Linguis loquúntur ómnium;
turbæ pavent gentílium,
musto madére députant,
quos Spíritus repléverat.
Patráta sunt hæc mýstice
Paschæ perácto témpore,
sacro diérum número,
quo lege fit remíssio.
Te nunc, Deus piíssime,
vultu precámur cérnuo:
illápsa nobis cǽlitus
largíre dona, o Spíritus.
Dudum sacráta péctora
tua replésti grátia;
dimítte nunc peccámina
et da quiéta témpora.
Per te sciámus da Patrem
noscámus atque Fílium,
te utriúsque Spíritum
credámus omni témpore.
Amen.

Come, Holy Ghost, who ever one
Art with the Father and the Son,
Come, Holy Ghost, our souls possess
With thy full flood of holiness.
In will and deed, by heart and tongue,
With all our powers, thy praise be sung;
And love light up our mortal frame,
Till others catch the living flame.
Almighty Father, hear our cry
Through Jesus Christ our Lord most high,
Who with the Holy Ghost and thee
Doth live and reign eternally.

Ps 149:1-9
| Psalm 149
|
Deus patrum nostrórum suscitávit Iesum, quem vos interemístis suspendéntes in ligno; hunc Deus Príncipem et Salvatórem exaltávit déxtera sua ad dandam pæniténtiam Israel et remissiónem peccatórum. Et nos sumus testes horum verbórum, et Spíritus Sanctus, quem dedit Deus obœdiéntibus sibi.
|
It was the God of our ancestors who raised up Jesus, but it was you who had him executed by hanging on a tree. By his own right hand God has now raised him up to be leader and saviour, to give repentance and forgiveness of sins through him to Israel. We are witnesses to all this, we and the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
|
℣. Repléti sunt omnes Spíritu Sancto,* Allelúia, allelúia. Repléti.
℟. Et cœpérunt loqui.* Allelúia, allelúia. Glória Patri. Repléti.
|
They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, alleluia, alleluia.
– They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, alleluia, alleluia.
They began to speak.
– They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, alleluia, alleluia.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
– They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, alleluia, alleluia.

De Messia eiusque præcursoreAccípite Spíritum Sanctum: quorum remiséritis peccáta, remittúntur eis, allelúia.
Benedíctus Dóminus Deus Israel,*
quia visitávit et fecit redemptiónem plebi suæ
et eréxit cornu salútis nobis*
in domo David púeri sui,
sicut locútus est per os sanctórum,*
qui a sæculo sunt, prophetárum eius,
salútem ex inimícis nostris*
et de manu ómnium, qui odérunt nos;
in remissiónem peccatórum eórum,
per víscera misericórdiæ Dei nostri,*
in quibus visitábit nos óriens ex alto,
illumináre his, qui in ténebris et in umbra mortis sedent*
ad dirigéndos pedes nostros in viam pacis.
Glória Patri et Fílio*
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio et nunc et semper*
et in sǽcula sæculórum.
Amen.
Accípite Spíritum Sanctum: quorum remiséritis peccáta, remittúntur eis, allelúia.

The Messiah and his forerunnerReceive the Holy Spirit. Those whose sins you forgive will be forgiven them. Alleluia.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
for he has come to his people and brought about their redemption.
He has raised up the sign of salvation
in the house of his servant David,
as he promised through the mouth of the holy ones,
his prophets through the ages:
to rescue us from our enemies
and all who hate us,
to take pity on our fathers,
to remember his holy covenant
and the oath he swore to Abraham our father,
that he would give himself to us,
that we could serve him without fear
– freed from the hands of our enemies –
in uprightness and holiness before him,
for all of our days.
And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High:
for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his path,
to let his people know their salvation,
so that their sins may be forgiven.
Through the bottomless mercy of our God,
one born on high will visit us
to give light to those who walk in darkness,
who live in the shadow of death;
to lead our feet in the path of peace.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
Receive the Holy Spirit. Those whose sins you forgive will be forgiven them. Alleluia.

déstrue peccátum in mundo.

On this day of Pentecost, the Church is filled with joy. Strengthened with measureless hope, we pray to Christ, who is calling his Church together in the Holy Spirit.
– Lord, renew the face of the earth.
Lord Jesus, raised on the cross, you poured out the water of rebirth for the life of the world.
Quicken the life of all men with the gift of the Spirit.
– Lord, renew the face of the earth.
Raised up to God’s right hand, you bestowed on the apostles the Father’s Gift;
your Church now waits for the same Gift, the same hope.
– Lord, renew the face of the earth.
You breathed your Spirit upon the apostles, and gave them the power of forgiveness:
set all men free today from the prison of sin.
– Lord, renew the face of the earth.
You promised to send us the Spirit of truth, that we might become your heralds throughout the world.
Through his presence in the Church may we bear faithful witness to you.
– Lord, renew the face of the earth.

Pater noster, qui es in cælis:
sanctificétur nomen tuum;
advéniat regnum tuum;
fiat volúntas tua, sicut in cælo et in terra.
Panem nostrum cotidiánum da nobis hódie;
et dimítte nobis débita nostra,
sicut et nos dimíttimus debitóribus nostris;
et ne nos indúcas in tentatiónem;
sed líbera nos a malo.
| Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
|
Amen.
| Lord God,
you sanctify your Church in every race and nation
by the mystery we celebrate on this day.
Pour out the gifts of the Holy Spirit on all mankind,
and fulfil now in the hearts of your faithful
what you accomplished when the Gospel was first preached on earth.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
|
Amen.
| The Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.
